The Nukus plant
The process
Leather leaves our line at three points — wet blue, crust, or finished. Everything before that point happens here in Nukus, inside one LWG-audited chain.
01
Cowhides from the region, salted, graded and weighed on intake. Karakalpakstan is cattle country — the raw material starts within reach of the plant.
02
Soaking, liming, unhairing, fleshing, splitting. The hide is taken back to clean structure before a drop of tanning chemistry touches it.
03
Chrome tannage in timber drums the size of rooms. Two rows of them, running the width of the original 2012 hall.
04
Product № 1 — Wet BlueFive steps: sammying, measuring, selection, splitting, then shaving. Selection is the one that matters most — this is where the destination of every hide is decided: out as wet blue, on to crust, or through to finished leather.
05
Retanned, dyed through and fatliquored to the article's recipe — where the character of the final leather is decided.
06
Product № 2 — CrustVacuum plates, overhead rails, conditioning. Dried to crust, this is the article we export: the leather that comes back to the world as “Made in Italy.”
07
Spray lines, roller coating, vacuum drying, embossing, milling — a complete Italian-built finishing chain under this roof.
08
Product № 3 — Finished leatherGraded, measured and dispatched — finished leather for footwear, developed to the customer's standard.
The leather
Chrome-tanned cowhide, sammyed and selected. Sold by selection, packed for onward tanning.
Retanned, dyed and dried, ready for finishing — the article we deliver to customers worldwide.
Finished for footwear — pigmented, embossed, milled. Full grain and split, developed to customer standard.
Full technical sheets — substance, selection, cuttings — ship with every sample.
Our finished article is developed for footwear — uppers and linings, full grain and split, to the customer's substance and standard.

The equipment
The plant was built from the ground up in 2010–2012 and equipped through the finishing chain with Italian machinery — shaving, samming, carousel spray, roller coating, vacuum drying, embossing. The claim isn't decoration. It's on the nameplates.

Responsibility
LWG SILVER
Verify us on the LWG supplier registry.
Hide origin is 100% regional, as recorded in our LWG audit. Documented farm-level traceability is the next step on our roadmap — not a claim we make today.
Water use, effluent treatment and restricted-substance management are assessed under the LWG audit protocol, on a fixed re-audit cycle.
Every claim on this site traces to an audit record, a registry entry or a certificate. Your compliance team can have copies of all of it.
The consumer mark
“Tavro” is the mark burned into a hide — the oldest proof of origin there is.
NUKUSTAVRO is our registered mark for footwear, clothing and headgear — certificate № MGU 66449, Nice Class 25, protected to 2035. The leather is already made in Nukus. The products that will carry its mark come next.
